K after that short interuption with the Mixtape post…let me continue with some of the stuff I’ve ben listening…

This one comes from Ohmega Watts the MC & Producer Extraordinaire…
This is one of a few albums that I just can’t stop listening (I’ll do another post series about those in the future)…One of those albums that you can listen from beginning to end with no crap tracks in between.
The track above is my one of my favorites #13 The Find Ft Stro The 89th Key (another amazing Mc/Producer that I’ll go in to, in detail in a near future)

He then released “Watts Happening” in 2007 which unfortunately was half as good as The Find (the track “Dedicated” is dope though)

This album is guaranteed satisfaction…one of the best £8.00 you will spend in music.
Don’t have much more to say about this amazing album besides….Buy it ASAP…you can thank me later.

Ohmega Watts – Diggin’ in the Crates

Lupe Fiasco released a mixtape this wednesday…
I’m normally not big on listening to mixtapes, but giving the fact that Lupe has been acting lately like he is hungry to show the world he is one of the best MC’s out. I had to check it out….well…I have to say…Lupe is with no doubt making his point.
On the track “Say Something” (TBR by Timbaland & Drake)…his flow it’s flawless & lyrics are nice…but if as he says…
“you might think this deep as fuck
but this is like my weaker stuff”

…Then his next album might be waay better than the previous two…
In my opinion he doesn’t need to prove anything to the world…he shot to most people’s top MC’s after his latest Album “The Cool” his rhymes & metaphors remind me a lot of Rakim…some next level stuff…that you only truly understand after hearing it a few times. (I am not saying that he as good as Rakim) but in only a few years he managed to establish himself as one of the most talented MC’s, and as a pioneer amongst all this new great artists…

Tiye Phoenix

27Nov09

The debut album of Tiye…and the continuation of what already is a brilliant career.

Tiye first got my attention with one of her great quotes @ Twitter. I told her it was so tight she should put it down on a track. She answer… that was nothing and that I should check a few of the tracks of her upcoming album on myspace. I did. And I was mighty impressed by her skills…what was best it’s that all through out she showed a very Hummel and kind personality, but still exhuming confidence in proving that she was unique.

The album was released on “insert date” After listening to the album throughly…I’ve got to say that she has delivered in spades. I haven’t been as impressed with a album by a female MC (definately not a rapper but MC) since “the miseducation of Lauren Hill” & MC Lite before her…
You can tell that Tyie is hungry to get her voice herd and that she has something meaninful to say.

The production is very tight and Tiye shows that she has varied lyrical flows and she rides the different rythms with ease and fun…she is also a producer, an exudes cindidence on stage. (have a look at the video below)

Tyie comes in this awesome 2009 as a brease of fresh air…I’ve been missing a good female MC for ages an MC that is as good or better than her male counterparts…the balace is needed and only makes HipHop better. No more Lil Kim’s or Foxy Browns that in my opinion degrade black womens image on an already disrepectful environment.

One of the best albums this year…on this great year for Hip-Hop that 2009 has been…this album is so complete, that’s is difficult to fault it…Production, Lyrics, Delivery... A labor of a lot of love by Brother Ali…he has my utmost respect after such a classic album.

I’ll start with this 2005 gem…weirdly I only got hold of it this year.
I started listening to Cyne last year. Started with “Pretty Dark Things”…going through iTunes this year I’ve discovered “Evolution Fight” it sounds so fresh that I thought it was they latest album…how wrong was I…

They’ve released an album on August this year by the name Water For Mars.

I am going to do a series of posts on the albums/artist I am listening to at the moment.
These are not necessarily new albums…a mix of new & old which is always good & brings a few surprises to the mix…
Please feel free to share your thoughts as I post…

My life is surrounded by Art and I love it with a passion. I am an Animator/Illustrator, I’ve been listening to Hip-Hop for years now, I used to do graffiti a while back and I appreciate all the aspects of Hip-Hop..I am listening to music at all times and when not I am getting information on the artists I like the most…mostly Underground Artists, where I believe the real good stuff is…

I would love to share this information with the world as well as giving you my opinion on a few touchy subjects of Hip-Hop. Old Acts, New Acts, etc, in the hopes that we can share opinions & start a discussion

Looking forward to start sharing tastes & knowledge with anyone interested, I know there’s loads of people on the same wave length….and I can’t wait to hear what you have to say.
